Clegg wants more worker-owned firms to sustain economy
Posted on January 15th, 2012
The government will encourage greater worker ownership in companies to counter the “crony capitalism” that contributed to the 2007/8 financial crisis and tipped the country into recession, Deputy Prime Minister Nick Clegg said on Monday.
An “unrestrained economic elite” driven by short-termism and recklessness had brought the economy to the edge and had to be restrained by a more responsible capitalism, Clegg said in extracts of a speech released in advance by his office.
Clegg said greater participation by employees would help rebalance a business environment “monopolised by a minority”.
“We now have an economy driven by immensely powerful vested interests …

Decision in Crucible Materials Requires Preference Claims to Contain More Than Just Recitations of the Code

Summary
In a 12 page decision signed July 6, 2011, Judge Walrath of the Delaware Bankruptcy Court granted a motion to dismiss, holding that a complaint that sets forth only conclusory allegations parroting the statutory language of the Bankruptcy Code is insufficient. Judge Walrath’s opinion is available here (the “Opinion”).

How to Find Joy
Posted on January 2nd, 2012
A little passage in Psalms struck me this morning and I thought Id share the wisdom to get us thinking this week.
It seems that all of us are searching for meaning, happiness, purpose, or something more in this life to satisfy our souls.
Whether we admit it or not, deep in our hearts is a longing to know how to find joy.
Sure we can try to find joy in things like keeping a joy journal or finding a true friend, but whats the ultimate answer to ultimate happiness?

As I was reading Psalm 4, I noticed something David said about how to find joy that I thought was a great reminder!
Check out Psalm 4:6-7:
There are many who say, Who will show us some good? Lift up the light of your face upon us, O Lord!
You have put more joy in my heart than they have when their grain and wine abound.
How to Find Joy
Heres a few things that I noticed:
Yes, there is a certain amount of happiness and satisfaction that comes from money.
When our grain and wine abound we receive joy, but it isnt the source of our joy.
Joy from money is fleeting.
Our delight in the latest deal, sale, gadget, or the landing of a big contract always fades away.
You have put more joy in my heart, David says about God.
God is the one in whom we find joy. Lasting, ultimate joy.
Why?
Because that is how He created the world to be.
There is a rhythm to the way God created this world where people have a relationship with Him and are satisfied in Him.
Unfortunately, when sin entered the picture in Genesis 3, the rhythm of the world was hijacked.
Now we run to all other vices, devices, work, relationships, and hobbies trying to find joy.
So how do we do this? The answer lies in verse 5:
Offer right sacrifices, and put your trust in the Lord.
Psalm 51is helpful in understanding what right sacrfices means:
In other words, we recognize our sin, acknowledge it before God, turn away from it in humble repentance, and put our trust in Him.
The gospel is where we begin to find joy.
Everlasting happiness.

State of Massachusetts Sues Five Major Lenders With Allegations of Fraudulent Foreclosures
Posted on December 29th, 2011
The Rancho Cucamonga foreclosure defense attorneys at Howard Law, P.C., have written many, many times about the use of shoddy paperwork during the foreclosure crisis. This includes the admitted use of “robo-signed” documents in foreclosures; foreclosing without proof of ownership; and failing to offer genuine assistance to homeowners who come to the lenders for help, even if that means violating the rules of the Home Affordable Modification Program. So we were pleased to see the Dec. 1 announcement that the state of Massachusetts has sued five major lenders and the Mortgage Electronic Registration System, the private company they use to buy and sell loans, for foreclosure fraud.
