Christmas overspending
Posted on January 5th, 2011
Christmas has come and gone, and Christmas is usually a time when people spend a lot of money. It’s a time for peace and love, of course, but it’s also a time to give and receive presents. And as much as some people might criticize this aspect of the holidays, the truth is most people enjoy receiving gifts, and also like it when others – especially the children in the family – enjoy gifts that they give them. And that’s usually why we overspend during the Holidays: not because of any consumerist drive to spend money like some people would make us believe, but to make our family and friends happy with the gifts we give them. And this often means resorting to credit.
You may not hear this directly from many banks, but there is a way to get out of the debt you’ve accumulated on your credit card by using 0%balance transfer credit cards. By transferring your balance to one of these cards you’ll, of course, be transferring your debt as well. And in order to get people to apply for the cards they’ll often offer a grace period during which you won’t pay interest on your debt. This means that you can transfer your debt to this card and then pay it interest free – definitely an amazing deal.
